Ways to Teach Your Young Daughter About Her Body Before Puberty
There are so many beautiful images from nature you can use to teach your young daughter about her special girl anatomy.
Even at 6-years-old, she would understand that eggs are protected in a nest in a tree. Just like the specially made nest for the bird’s eggs, she has a special place in her body where eggs are being protected. This special place is called her ovaries. Lots of eggs are quietly resting in her ovaries right now.
If we begin teaching our daughters about their girl anatomy when they are young, it can be fun and interesting to them. It does not need to include sexual concepts, just simple examples like the bird nest. We want our daughters to have a clear understanding about their own body before we introduce the changes that are going to happen with the onset of puberty.
These special moments with your daughter are best if they are brief; almost as if you just happened across this idea and wanted to share it with her. It’s a double win for her. She is with mom and learning something interesting.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the transition into puberty could be a celebration of the excitement that her body is changing? You can set this up in the few years before she notices the changes and so she actually looks forward to them.
