Ways to Social Distance and Still Get Your Adolescent Out of the House
Being kept at home, away from friends, with limited fun things to do is very difficult for adolescents. These ideas take very little planning and will certainly be encouraging for everyone.
There are some ways to get out of the house and have a great time as a family. Let me encourage you to be creative as you venture out. A local hike can be a great way to create good memories out of this unusual summer chaos.
If you want to make it even more adventuresome, how about a night or two of camping. You can enjoy s’mores and the beauty of nature. You might meet a little resistance from an adolescent in your family, but being in nature has a way of bringing out the calmness that is tucked deep inside. It might help if you let your adolescent bring a friend along to be part of your family adventure.
Maybe you and your family could have a family meeting and throw out different ideas. Keep an open mind and remember … let your adolescent feel like they are part of the decision process. They will be more likely to support the plan.
