Mommy, Where is the Baby Growing?
I absolutely love this picture! It captures why I think it is important to teach 5-7 year old girls about their basic girl anatomy.
- She is inquisitive about her own body and about what is happening to mommy’s body if she is expecting a baby.
- She is not bashful or uncomfortable talking about her body.
- It’s an adventure for her to learn this information.
If you are a young mom with a young daughter, use these very special years to set into motion special times with her when she can learn about her girl anatomy and ask all the questions she wants.
Just the real names of structures and a little bit about how special each structure might be is certainly enough information. I like to use real anatomy pictures because this starts her learning process off with a truthful and accurate beginning.
This is an example of a descriptive illustration from my book, “I’m a Girl, Special Me,” that talks about the ovaries.
Here is an anatomy illustration from my book that shows what ovaries look like in her body.
These special times that you share with your daughter begin a wonderful pattern of intimate conversations that can support her through the years as she experiences the changes that are going to happen during puberty. She will be forever grateful to you!
