Make Sure You’re Ready To Help Your Daughter Understand What’s Important
These two girls are adorable. It is, however, a little surprising to think that in just a short time their body is going to enter puberty. Our daughters seem so young, but puberty begins about 8-9 years old.
I know many of you feel uncomfortable starting conversations with your daughter about puberty. You might be concerned you are starting too soon. You also might be concerned you missed your window. It’s never too late to start these chats with your daughter.
Your hope might be that her school will provide this teaching. Before you totally rely upon your daughter’s school, you might want to find out exactly what they are going to teach her about this topic and other related topics.
Your daughter has a lot going on in her body and in her emotions. She is going to be hesitant to start these conversations with you. To make it easier for both of you, plan to keep the talks brief, I recommend 7 minutes. Keep them simple. And make them an experience they want to have again with you.
I have been expanding resources on my website to help you along the way. I have even prepared the 7-Minute talks for you. Here is a sample.
Let’s make sure your daughter is informed and confident as she enters the important years of puberty.
