Have you thought about the challenges girls living in underdeveloped countries like rural Uganda or Sierra Leone, Afghanistan might face as they start their period?
I ran across an interesting article from Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls you might want to share with your daughter if she is about to begin her period or has already started having a monthly cycle.
It’s so easy to feel unhappy about the inconvenience of having a period, until you think about young girls in poverty who cannot even go to school when they are having their period because they have very few resources.
I plan to look into community outreach programs that support the non-profit groups mentioned in the article.
