Start Early Teaching Your Son About His Boy Anatomy
If your son is 5-7 years old, please take advantage of this very sweet age to begin teaching him about his boy anatomy. As soon as he enters puberty, in just a few years, he will likely be less interested in learning this important information from you with each passing year.
With our daughters, we know we need to prepare them for their first period. This motivates parents to teach their daughters information about periods and how to prepare so there are no surprises. For our sons, there are changes that happen during early puberty like a change in body odor and his emotions, but we also need to prepare them for their first ejaculation.
It is unusual for most parents to consider their son’s first ejaculation as something you need to prepare him for, but it is likely something he has heard about and it has made him anxious. Wet dreams are part of what happens as ejaculations begin and prove to be another source of anxiety.
I have written a book for boys 5-7 years old called I’m a Boy, Special Me. It is written in storybook format with wonderful illustrations.
I have also created “7-Minute Chats” based on the illustrations in the book to help guide you through these years before puberty with your son. Beginning with fun, yet brief, 7-Minute Chats when he is 5-7 years old that teach him basic boy anatomy has two benefits:
- He learns about the structures.
- You set a pattern of open discussions that become a special time together throughout the coming years.
Let’s make sure our young sons are informed, and along the way we can set a special pattern of brief chats through the years, that will become a treasure for him.
