Books for Girls
I’m a Girl, Special Me (ages 5-7)
This book is intended for young girls and describes the basic structures of the female (reproductive) anatomy, as well as introduces the concept of where babies come from. This book will be of particular interest to a young girl whose mother is pregnant or has recently given birth.
I’m a Girl, My Changing Body (ages 8-10)
This book is the first of a two book series that describes the changes a young girl experiences during puberty. It is intended for girls who have begun to notice the early signs of puberty including changes in their breasts and new hair growth in their armpits and vulva.
I’m a Girl, Hormones! (ages 10+)
This book is the second of a two book series that describes the changes a young girl experiences during puberty. It is intended for girls who have already noticed breast buds forming in their breasts and hair in new places like the armpits and vulva. It explains the daily body changes that happen during the menstrual cycle and how to prepare for them.
Books for Boys
I’m a Boy, Special Me (ages 5-7)
This book is intended for young boys and describes the basic structure of the genitals, which includes the testicles and penis. Like I’m a Girl, Special Me, this book will be of particular interest to a young boy whose mother is pregnant or has recently given birth.
I’m a Boy, My Changing Body (ages 8-10)
This book is the first of a two book series that describes the changes a young boy experiences during puberty. It is intended for a boy who has begun to notice the early signs of puberty including changes in their testicles and new hair growth in the armpits and pubic area.
I’m a Boy, Hormones! (ages 11+)
I’m a Boy, Hormones! is for boys ages 11 and up who are in puberty. You’ll find that most boys in this age group will want to read the book on their own.
The goal of this book is to inform your son about the physical changes that are happening to him and what he can expect in the future.
