Great Resources to Prepare Your Young Daughter for Puberty
If your daughter is approaching 8-years-old, now is good time to introduce her to the structures in her reproductive system. As surprising as it is to most parents, most young girls this age are entering early puberty. So, this is a good age to prepare her for the changes that are coming.
If you think your daughter is a young 8 year-old, I would suggest that you read with her my first book in the I’m a Girl Series called I’m a Girl, Special Me.
In this story, I introduce concepts like the ovaries and where babies grow. I also have a small section that explains how to protect themselves from unwanted touching.
If your daughter is a little more mature for her age, you might want to consider reading with her my second book in the I’m a Girl Series called I’m a Girl, My Changing Body.
This book focuses on the early years of puberty that include changes in body odor and emotions. During these years, your daughter might also start feeling tender breasts from the growth of breast buds.
The more she knows what to expect and that these changes are normal will help her to be confident and not anxious about the future.
